Cosmetic Services at Audubon Dental

In addition to general dentistry, we provide many types of cosmetic services.  These are not covered by dental insurance so you will need to have the fee paid in full prior to the day of the procedure.  We accept cash, check or major credit cards.
Cosmetic procedures are part of an overall dental health program.  Patients should have had a regular exam, cleaning, and necessary radiographs, basic needed dental services, etc. before considering cosmetics.  An improvement in one's smile is a great investment.  Sometimes a minor change can make a big difference to a person's  appearance.  At other times, more extensive work  is needed.  Lip enhancement and dermal fillers in the mouth area can bring a more youthful, rested look. Our office utilizes, and is educated about, the many modern cosmetic modalities, and we'll be glad to discuss your smile improvement alternatives.
Cosmetic Consult  (Includes photos and study models if needed).  This initial fee will be credited towards any performed treatment.
WHITENING  We offer two whitening options.  The in-office procedure is done using high percentage bleaching agent along with a special lamp.  It takes about an hour.  The at-home option consists of the fabrication of custom fit trays that are worn at home for a few hours a day, or during sleep, for two weeks.  The best plan for many people is to have both since additional lightening and occasional "touch-ups" done after the in-office procedure can intensify results.  While most people's teeth lighten  nicely, some teeth do lighten better than others.  We'll do our best, but we can't offer a guarantee that you will get a certain shade.

Before and After Bleaching

Porcelain Laminates / Veneers  These are used to change tooth shape and / or shade. Often, they can be used to make a smile more youthful by lengthening or thickening the teeth allowing the lips to be more supported.
Enamel Shaping /  Recontouring  / Microabrasion   Sometimes minor changes in the shape of teeth can make a real difference in the way a smile looks.  Ragged teeth can be smoothed, longer teeth shortened, etc.  These changes need to  be considered carefully, and often it is best to do a workup plaster model before shaping the actual teeth.  Where stains are superficial, it may be possible to remove a thin layer of enamel along with the stain.  This is followed by polishing.  These enamel-limited  procedures may not require anesthetic.
Other Esthetic Possibilities   These include composite bonding,  redo of stained fillings, and porcelain onlays to replace silver fillings (these are not ordinary white plastic fillings but are made in a commercial lab and the cost is comparable to a crown), ceramic full coverage crowns and bridges, or implants, to fill in empty spaces, orthodontics (not done in our office, but we will be happy to refer you to a qualified orthodontist).
Dermal Fillers  The dentition is intimately related to one's smile and peri-oral structures.  Dr. Lynne Heckert has had training in the use of dermal fillers.  The are used at Audubon Dental as part of an overall individual treatment plan, to enhance the smile and lower face, including lines and folds associated with the smile and enhancement of deficient lip size.  This is a natural product and no allergy testing is required. It is longer lasting than collagen.  Since we are dentists and are comfortable with local anesthesia, this treatment can be made virtually painless. Talk to us about the availability of services.
